Coach Cuevas is married to his beautiful wife Matty, who is a 5th grade teacher at San Jose-Edison Academy, and they have two wonderful children, Alyana (7), and Al Jr. (5). Coach Cuevas teaches American Government and Economics.

Mr. Cuevas is certified by the Positive Coaching Alliance as a "Double Goal Coach". The Positive Coaching Alliance's goal is to replace the "win-at-all-cost" model of coaching with the Double-Goal Coach, who wants to win but has a second, more important, goal of using sports to teach life lessons. Coach Cuevas begins his 4th as head coach of the boy's basketball after spending 17 years grinding as an assistant at Buena Park High School and the girls and boys programs at BGHS. Coach Cuevas has also spent many years on the summer camp circuit learning and teaching with young players from across the nation. Coach Cuevas has coached players that have played at every level of the sport. Coach Cuevas has transformed a program that was an afterthought into one of the areas best. In 2008-2009 the Lancers were one of the top scoring teams in the CIF Southern Section, making a record 9.3 3 pt shots per game. The Lancers ended the season with 251 made 3 pt shots which was in the top ten in the CIF SS (2), California (4) , and the nation (15). The varsity team has also had a team GPA of 3.0 or better the last four years. Coach Cuevas' teams will play full court defense, run on offense, and shoot 3's to the dismay of most other programs. Coach Cuevas looks forward to having another exciting year. Coach Cuevas lives in Pico Rivera with his beautiful wife Matty and his two children Alyana and Al Jr.

Coach Ware brings his knowledge, energy, and passion, to our entire program. Coach Ware brings an outstanding all around knowledge of the game, but his primary focus for us will be defense. His intensity and positive energy make him a favorite of the student-athletes. Coach Ware has taken on many responsibilities within our program and has really been a huge part of our success.
